Terms of Service

FaceGuessr is a game where players guess crowd attractiveness ratings for faces (celebrity images and/or user-uploaded photos) and may compete in solo or live matches. Features may change, and the service may be limited during private beta.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, upload photos, or use FaceGuessr. By using the service you represent that you meet this age requirement.

• Keep your login credentials secure and accurate.
• You are responsible for activity under your account, including guesses, uploads, and multiplayer behavior.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or harm other users.

• Upload photos of yourself only. Do not upload a photo of another person, even if you took it, even if you have their permission, and even if they are a public figure. Permission from the subject is not enough, because they have not agreed to our terms and we have no way to honour their rights.
• You must be the person shown, you must be 18 or older, and everyone shown must be 18 or older.
• You understand that other players will rate the photo on a numeric scale, that those ratings are stored individually, and that rating data may be licensed to third parties in de-identified form as described in our Privacy Policy.
• Uploaded photos are reviewed before appearing in games. We may reject or remove content that is illegal, non-consensual, sexual, involves minors, is harassing, or is otherwise inappropriate — with or without explanation.
• By uploading, you grant FaceGuessr a non-exclusive, revocable license to host, display and use the photo to operate the game, including showing it to other players for rating. This license ends when you remove the photo or delete your account. It does not permit us to sell your photograph.
• You can remove your uploads from your profile at any time, and delete your account entirely from the “Your data” section of your profile. Residual copies may remain briefly in backups or in a match already in progress.
• Reporting — anyone can report a photo using the report link shown during a round. If you find a photo of yourself that you did not upload, report it with the consent reason and it leaves circulation immediately.

Separately from personal photos, you may submit photographs of public figures to the celebrity pool. This is the only circumstance in which you may submit an image of someone other than yourself, and it is governed by its own rules:

• You choose which public figure to submit and which image to use. We do not assign or request specific people or specific photographs.
• You must confirm that the subject is a public figure, that they are 18 or older, and that to the best of your knowledge the image is not watermarked, credited, or otherwise identifiable as the property of a photo agency or professional photographer.
• You must provide the source you obtained the image from. Submissions without a source may be rejected.
• Every submission is reviewed before it can appear in a game, and we may reject any submission for any reason.
• You do not gain any ownership of, or rights in, a submission once it is accepted, and you are not entitled to payment for it unless we say otherwise in a published program.
• We remove submitted images on notice from a rights holder or from the person shown. See our Copyright & DMCA Policy for how that works, including the strike policy for accounts that repeatedly submit infringing material.

Crowd averages, points, and ELO are game mechanics. They are not professional assessments, endorsements, or statements of fact about any person. We may adjust scoring, reset ratings, or invalidate results to protect fair play.

Live lobbies (quick match and private rooms) may include other players and, in matchmaking, automated fillers. Do not harass, cheat, exploit bugs, or disrupt matches. Invite links are for people you trust; you are responsible for who you invite.

• No illegal activity or attempts to break into the service.
• No scraping, spam, or automated abuse of ratings or lobbies.
• No content that exploits or sexualizes minors, or non-consensual intimate imagery.
• No impersonation or misleading usernames.

Ratings submitted in the game — the scores, their distribution, and statistics derived from them — belong to FaceGuessr, and we may license de-identified rating data to third parties. We do not sell your photographs or your account details. Full detail, including how to opt out, is in our Privacy Policy.

• Where they are available — paid plans are currently sold only to customers with a United States billing address. If yours is elsewhere, checkout will not complete, and the free plan remains available everywhere.
• Subscriptions renew automatically — plans are billed monthly at the price shown at checkout, and they renew each month until you cancel. Your card is charged on the same day each period.
• Cancelling — cancel at any time from Manage billing in your profile. There is no cancellation fee and you do not need to contact us. Your plan continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, then drops to free.
• Refunds — payments are generally non-refundable, including for partial periods, because cancelling leaves your plan running until the period ends. If you were charged in error or something on our side did not work, email faceguessr@gmail.com and we will put it right.
• Failed payments — if a payment fails we keep your plan active while the card is retried. If it keeps failing the subscription ends and the account returns to free. Photos beyond the free limit stay in your archive rather than being deleted.
• Price changes — we may change prices, and we will tell you before a change affects your renewal so you can cancel first.
• Tax — prices exclude sales tax where it applies; any tax is shown at checkout.
• Payment processing — Stripe processes payments and stores your card details. We never receive or store your full card number.

Paid plans change limits and priority inside the game. They do not buy higher ratings, and nothing about a plan influences what score other players give your photos.

FaceGuessr’s branding, software, and site design are owned by us or our licensors. Celebrity or third-party images used in the game may be subject to third-party rights; we do not claim ownership of those individuals’ likenesses beyond the limited use needed to operate the game. If you hold rights in an image used in the game and want it removed, see our Copyright & DMCA Policy, which lists our designated agent, or email faceguessr@gmail.com and we will remove it.

The service is provided “as is” during beta and otherwise. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, perfect fairness, or that ratings will match any particular expectation. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, FaceGuessr and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost scores, ratings, or data, arising from your use of the service.

We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms. Material changes may be highlighted in the product when practical.
